How to import map files
- Please visit our map and terrain (AGL) data repository at https://strato.skybean.eu/map/
- Download and unzip the files for the desired area. There is an AGL and a map file for each country
- Copy the unzipped AGL files into the AGL folder on Strato
- Copy the unzipped map files into the map folder on Strato
- Don't worry about overwriting some files, as data can overlap for nearby countries.
- Release - for non-technical users, the most stable and thoroughly tested software. Please select this option if you don't want to worry about the technical backend of vario and just want to fly with it.
- Testing - a still fairly stable firmware version, though occasional crashes can happen. You don't need to be a hacker from Anonymous to use this version—a middle-ground option with low risk of error, but a very new feature set.
- Devel - not recommended for serious flying, as it is the "bleeding edge" of development, an unstable version.

Evolution
With so many new and exciting features and ideas that our little SkyDrop can't accommodate, we've been inspired to create something more advanced. We combined our expertise and skills, and voilà - here it is, the high-end fly computer, Strato.
Physical
For the size of an average middle-class vario equipped with high-end functions! Strato features a sunlight-readable 3-inch transflective colour display. It weighs just 180 grams with a robust 20-hour battery life. Strato fits your cockpit vertically, leaving plenty of space for radio, phone, or other gadgets.
Safety
Do you recall that odd feeling when you accidentally got pulled into the cloud on your favourite XC highway during the “hammertag”? The FLARM transmitter will alert glider pilots, helping you avoid getting smashed like a bug on the windscreen, while the FANET transceiver will keep you informed about other paragliders nearby. Strato will also warn you about potential airspace breaches and collisions with power or lift lines.
Sensors
Strato features high-quality sensors from leading Swiss manufacturers. It includes a high-performance GNSS receiver from u-Blox supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. An top-tier barometer from MEAS Switzerland, combined with motion sensors, provides instant vario response.
Sound
Annoyed by that typical Tamagotchi beeping? Soft and precise vario tones from the high-quality speaker will help you effectively climb to the cloud base. Then enjoy your favourite music played from your phone through Bluetooth, during the glide.
Connectivity
Connect to your favourite XC app via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or directly with a USB cable. Strato is connected via Wi-Fi to your phone or home network for automatic tracklog upload. Maps, terrain and airspace data are always up-to-date without the need for a computer.
Energy Management
Strato has two USB-C ports, allowing energy to flow from the power bank through Strato to the phone while in the air, with data tethering happening simultaneously. Quick Charge technology can deliver significant amounts of energy for faster charging — an hour of charging during takeoff is enough.
User Interface
Strato's customisability will exceed that of his smaller brother SkyDrop. You will be able to use profiles for XC, competition, PPG, or local soaring, and adjust nearly everything to suit your preferences. Choose from a wide range of widgets and arrange them across multiple pages.
After Flight Hangout
Use Strato as a music player or Bluetooth speaker. The built-in torch light will help you find your way back to your tent. As a bonus, Strato can also serve as a power bank for your smartphone.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you run into any issues during the update, don't worry. We've prepared this helpful flow chart - Strato Recovery Flowchart - where you can find solutions for all kinds of scenarios.
